We are seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral fellow to join a collaborative project in the field of Biomedical Engineering on sonogenetics and ultrasonic neurostimulation.
Our lab focuses on ultrasound as an emerging technology for non-invasive therapeutic intervention in the brain. Our group has previously introduced new methods for the precise delivery and application of ultrasound, and we are now adapting these methods to address fundamental questions in biology as well as noninvasive therapeutic applications.
You will be developing advanced hardware platforms for the in vitro and in vivo application of ultrasound with the aims of
- elucidating the biophysical mechanism(s) behind ultrasonic neuromodulation,
- delivering complex payloads to the brain via ultrasonic blood-brain-barrier opening.
You will work on advancing the hardware platforms and closely work with our collaborating institute, the IBS Center for Nanomedicine/Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, to test them in vivo.
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in biophysics, applied physics, engineering or a related field, ideally with a background in neuromodulation and/or ultrasound technologies. Experience with computational programming skills, modelling and imaging is a plus.
