Short description of the group/project/topic of research
The EPR Research group at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion (MPI CEC) is looking for a postdoctoral fellow.
The EPR group at MPI CEC employs electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) techniques to monitor and characterize paramagnetic states relevant in energy conversion and storage processes. We develop and apply state-of the art EPR spectrometers ranging from GHz to THz frequencies. Our spectrometers are capable of a wide repertoire of CW/pulse multi-resonance and multi-frequency EPR methods for powder, crystal, solution and in-situ experiments.
The project aims at the characterization of function determining paramagnetic transition metal ions and main group compounds in homogenous and heterogeneous catalysts by advanced EPR methods. The tasks include development of dedicated EPR instrumentation, pulse/cw EPR measurements and data simulation as well as quantum chemical calculations to elucidate magneto-structural correlations.
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with the following skills:
- A PhD degree in physics or chemistry
- Profound experience in advanced multi-resonance and multi-frequency EPR methods
- Background in EPR instrumentation, quantum chemical calculations and inorganic chemistry
- Very good networking and communication skills
- Very good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written)
