We invite you to apply for a Postdoctoral Position on Multiscale Physics in the Climate System with the freedom to develop and pursue your own research program within a broad scope. As a successful candidate, you will become an integral part of the Lise Meitner Group on Multiscale Cloud Physics led by Franziska Glassmeier at the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology.

Your profile

We are looking for a curiosity-driven and conceptually-minded candidate who enjoys interdisciplinary science and scientific discussion. To be considered for this position, you must hold a PhD in physics or a related field. Suitable backgrounds include - but are not limited to - computational physics, active matter, statistical physics of neural networks, non-equilibrium fluctuations. You should have experience in presenting your results to the scientific community at international conferences and through peer-reviewed publications in international journals. As a successful candidate, we will expect you to develop, conduct and present your own innovative research projects.

  • The position is offered for 3 years (full time). We are open to considering part-time employment
  • The position is available immediately. The start date is negotiable.
  • Payment will be in accordance with German public service positions depending on qualification (E14 TVöD) and includes extensive social security benefits. The conditions of employment, including salary progression and duration, follow the rules of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science and those of the German civil service.
